The International Centre for Nomadic Music, in Grenoble, is born from the merge of the 38e Rugissants and the Grenoble Jazz Festival. Throughout the year, the Centre hosts the creative assembly of productions, and organises a “contemporary world music” festival, les Détours de Babel. The festival program seeks to call into question the social and aesthetic norms, through a thematic (2012’s “Music & Politics”, “ Music & Religion ” in 2013 the next thematic expected will be “Music & nature” for 2014).Indeed, everything about this spring festival is nomadic and unfettered: balls, musical brunches, multimedia installations, touring shows in rural areas, workshops and master classes… all cropping up where we least expect them – in markets, museums, natural or urban sites...
